New Delhi, July 23 -- India's automobile sector has the potential to reduce manufacturing-related emissions by 87 percent by 2050 through comprehensive decarbonisation efforts that extend beyond electric vehicle production to encompass the entire manufacturing process, according to a new report released Wednesday.

The study by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) reveals that achieving this dramatic reduction requires a fundamental transformation in how all vehicles are manufactured, including internal combustion engines, hybrids, and electric vehicles.
