New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- India has reached a key milestone in its energy transition, achieving 50 percent of installed power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, five years ahead of its 2030 target, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said at a recent industry event.

Speaking at an energy sector event, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted that India is producing energy at record levels, driven by diversification of supply sources, according to a IANS report.

"India is producing more energy than ever before. With the rapidly growing demand for energy, India has diversified its energy sources. Earlier, we imported from 27 countries; today, we import from 40 countries," said Puri.
