New Delhi, May 25 -- Not being able to restart in spite of clear guidelines, industries in Meerut are resorting to retrenchment and downsizing work force.

Industry bodies of the district have accused that at a time when the entire country is opening up, Meerut administration continues to flounder on allowing industries to re-start during COVID lockdown 4.0.

The system of granting permission is opaque and discretionary and not based on rational parameters. MSMEs apply for permission which is promptly denied to most without assigning any reason but given to chosen few, alleged the local industry bodies.
