New Delhi, Feb. 1 -- In the Union Budget 2025-26 presented on February 1, 2025 Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a significant initiative to bolster vegetable production and supply chains across India.

The government plans to develop large-scale clusters for vegetable production near major consumption centers. This strategy aims to enhance the efficiency of the vegetable supply chain, ensuring fresher produce reaches consumers more swiftly.

To implement this initiative, the government will collaborate with Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, and start-ups. These partnerships will focus on various aspects of the supply chain, including the collection, storage, and marketing of vegetables.
