New Delhi, Dec. 3 -- The Government has notified the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), along with the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, on 13 November 2025, establishing timelines for the phased implementation of key provisions and enabling the notification of the Digital Data Protection Board (DPB).
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on 3 December 2025, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada informed that the Act and Rules introduce a simplified compliance framework for start-ups and certain categories of data fiduciaries.
