Bengaluru, March 13 -- The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Regional Directorate, Bengaluru organized a virtual workshop on Alternatives to Single Use Plastics (SUP) last week.
The presentation began with the challenges and solutions concerning SUP with an aim to educate and create awareness about substitutes to SUP.
It further reflected on the legal framework consisting of SUP items defined and identified, provisions for certification of Biodegradable plastics etc.
Emerging raw materials for SUP items manufacturing were listed in the presentations such as rice husk, wheat straw, sea weeds, palm leaves among others.
