Confusion on online Certificate of Origin continues in absence of DGFT clarification

New Delhi, Nov. 10 -- Because of variance in understanding of the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and the Chambers authorized to issue Certificate of Origin (non-preferential), exporters are a confused lot.
As per the notification of the DGFT from 1st November 2021 CoO could only be issued through DGFT portal where in the exporters had to apply and authorized chambers to digitally certify the documents.
However, most Chamber continue issuing CoOs in physical mode and exporters are worried that their shipments might get stuck at the ports in importing countries.
A few chambers and associations approached DGFT also for getting a statement issued on the issue but to no avail.
