New Delhi, June 27 -- The Indian Apparel Industry, which saw respective decline of 91% and 66% exports in April and May 2020, have sought the Governments support in expediting the clearance of import consignments from China saying the undue delay is impacting their operations and might result in further financial losses.

Lately, Customs Authorities at several ports are doing 100% examination of goods originating from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This has created undue delay in clearance of imported shipments of inputs which are meant for manufacture of garments for exports, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) Chairman Dr A Sakthivel said in a letter to Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) Chairman M Ajit Kumar.
