New Delhi, Feb. 14 -- Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada has said that as many as 10 semiconductor projects worth around Rs 1.6 lakh crore have been approved, including two fabs and eight packaging units.

Responding to a question in Parliament, the Minister said the government is rolling out several initiatives to boost electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. They include Semicon India Programme, PLI schemes for IT hardware and large-scale electronics, Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS), Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC), and M-SIPS.
