Afghanistan, Sept. 8 -- More than three weeks after the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, they announced a 33-member caretaker government that will be led by Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund.

The premier or head of the directorate of ministers of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is known as one of the prominent politicians among the Taliban.

Hassan Akhund who is in his seventies now was deputy prime minister and deputy foreign minister of the Taliban in the 90s.

The Qandahar-born Akhund is a pure Pashtoon and was a member of the leadership council-Rahbari Shura- of the Taliban post-2001 but was not seen nor named during the two-year peace negotiations with the US in Doha.
