Afghanistan, Feb. 9 -- The World Food Programme says 880,000 Afghan children received school meals in 2025, supporting education amid worsening hunger and economic hardship nationwide.

The World Food Programme (WFP) said on Monday, Febraury 9 that it provided school meals to about 880,000 children across Afghanistan during 2025 through its nationwide nutrition programme.

WFP said the initiative aims to support education by encouraging families to keep children in school while addressing hunger affecting vulnerable communities.

According to the agency, meals fortified with vitamins and minerals help improve children's concentration, learning ability, and overall health in classrooms across the country.
