Afghanistan, Feb. 10 -- The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that, with support from the European Union, Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States, it distributed 2,500 tons of pulses across Afghanistan last year.
The WFP stated on Monday, February 10, on X that legumes are a vital source of protein, nutrients, iron, minerals, and B vitamins. This assistance has helped 700,000 people across the country receive food support.
The report also highlights that it is estimated nearly 15 million people will face a humanitarian crisis and emergency levels of food insecurity in Afghanistan this winter.
