Afghanistan, Feb. 24 -- The Vatican issued a statement confirming that the health condition of the Pope remains critical, and he is not yet out of danger. Earlier on Sunday, he experienced a severe bout of shortness of breath, requiring high-flow oxygen.
The Vatican's statement also noted that the Pope is in more pain yesterday, with blood tests revealing a platelet deficiency linked to anemia, which necessitated a blood transfusion.
Professor Sergio Alfieri, speaking at a press conference at the Gemelli Hospital, where the Pope is being treated, mentioned, "The Pope is not out of danger, and the issue lies in the potential bacterial infection in the bloodstream, which could spread to other organs."
