Afghanistan, May 31 -- U.S. Defense Secretary warns China is preparing for a possible Taiwan invasion by 2027, urging allies to increase military spending.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking at the Shangri-La Security Dialogue in Singapore, warned that China's military is preparing for a potential assault on Taiwan by 2027, under the directive of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to CNN, Hegseth stated that China is confidently rehearsing for what he called a "real mission" and seeks to assert its dominance in the Indo-Pacific region through military power.
