Afghanistan, March 25 -- The United States has removed the reward for Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban's Interior Minister, and two other members of the Haqqani Network.

The New York Times reported on Monday, March 24, that this decision came shortly after the visit of the U.S. Special Representative for Hostage Affairs to Kabul.

During this visit, an American citizen who had been detained in Afghanistan for over two years was released, which led to the removal of the rewards.

Previously, the U.S. had set a $20 million reward for information about three leaders of the Haqqani Network, which remains the only Taliban faction on the U.S. terrorism list.
