Afghanistan, March 5 -- The U.S. Department of State has designated the Houthi rebel group in Yemen, also known as Ansarullah, as a "Global Terrorist" organization. On Tuesday, March 4, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the group has been re-listed on the U.S. terror list. Being on this list means that any individual or organization providing "material support" to the group will face sanctions and penalties.

The statement also mentioned that since 2023, Houthi fighters have launched hundreds of attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
