Afghanistan, May 1 -- U.S. Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, issued a stern warning to Iran regarding its support for the Houthi rebels in Yemen. On April 30, 2025, Hegseth addressed the Iranian government, stating that the U.S. had observed Iran's "deadly support" for the Houthis and warned Tehran that it would pay the price for its actions at a time and place of America's choosing.
The warning came just days before the fourth round of U.S.-Iran negotiations, scheduled for May 3, in Rome, Italy. During these talks, U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff will meet with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss regional security, including the Houthi issue.
