Afghanistan, Aug. 21 -- The United States sanctioned four International Criminal Court officials, drawing condemnation from France and the UN, while Washington defended its move as protecting national sovereignty and allies.
The Trump administration has imposed sanctions on two judges and two prosecutors of the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling the body a "threat to national security" and an illegitimate tool against the U.S. and Israel.
The U.S. State and Treasury Departments said the sanctions target Nicolas Guillou (France), Nazhat Shameem Khan (Fiji), Mame Mandiaye Niang (Senegal), and Kimberley Prost (Canada). Washington claims they were involved in cases related to American and Israeli conduct.
