Afghanistan, Aug. 2 -- UNICEF reports measles has killed 357 children in Afghanistan in just six months, warning over 12 million children urgently need aid amid worsening health and malnutrition crises.

UNICEF warns Afghanistan is facing a worsening humanitarian emergency, with measles killing at least 357 children in the first half of 2025 and over 12 million needing urgent aid.

From January to June, more than 74,800 suspected measles cases were reported, nearly 80% in children under five. Other preventable diseases remain rampant, including severe diarrhea and pneumonia.
