Afghanistan, Feb. 3 -- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced that in 2024, it distributed iron tablets to at least 2.5 million girls in Afghanistan who were at risk of anemia.
The organization posted on its X/Twitter account on Sunday, February 2, stating that these iron tablets were distributed to teenage girls and women suffering from anemia.
It is reported that these tablets were distributed by health workers to the girls, whereas previously, the anemia medication was provided through schools to the girls.
UNICEF emphasized that receiving the necessary doses of iron tablets is crucial for girls, as it can protect them from anemia and related health issues.
