The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has voiced serious concern over Pakistan's plan to expel Afghan refugees from 16 villages across Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning that forced removals could have devastating humanitarian consequences.
Philippa Candler, UNHCR's representative in Pakistan, said on Wednesday that Afghan refugees have lived in the country for decades and "built their lives, families, and communities here." She urged Islamabad to halt the deportations and ensure any returns occur voluntarily and with dignity.
