Afghanistan, July 15 -- UNAMA Chief Roza Otunbayeva urges immediate international assistance as Afghanistan faces worsening crisis from mass Afghan returnees deported from Iran.

In response to the mass deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran, Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA, has called for immediate international assistance to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.

UNAMA reported on Tuesday, July 15, that Otunbayeva visited the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat, where she met with Afghan returnees facing dire conditions. Many had been deported without notice or proper assistance, straining already fragile border resources.
