The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has raised urgent concerns over a significant funding shortfall jeopardizing humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan. In its 2024 report titled "Afghanistan Humanitarian Response Gap Analysis," OCHA revealed that only 53% of the $3.06 billion required for aid programs has been secured, leaving a deficit of $1.43 billion by the end of the financial year.
