Afghanistan, Nov. 3 -- The United Nations said emergency teams are assisting victims after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan, killing over 20 and injuring hundreds.

The United Nations said on Monday that its emergency response teams have reached areas affected by the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan overnight, pledging immediate assistance to those in need.

The quake, centered in Khulm district of Balkh province, shook several northern regions, including Samangan and Badakhshan, and was felt as far as Kabul. It comes just weeks after a deadly tremor hit eastern Kunar province, compounding the country's humanitarian crisis.
