Afghanistan, Aug. 31 -- The United Nations Security Council announced that it will convene its quarterly session on Afghanistan in September to review the latest developments in the country.
According to the Council's statement on Saturday, Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA, will deliver her final report before the conclusion of her mandate.
The meeting will also feature remarks from Volker Turk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, who is expected to highlight key human rights concerns.
In its latest report, the Security Council expressed concern over the reduction of humanitarian aid and Taliban interference in its distribution across Afghanistan.
