The United Nations Security Council has placed five individuals linked to ISIS and al-Qaeda on its international sanctions list, citing their involvement in financing, recruitment, and operational support for terrorist groups.
In a statement issued on August 22, the council's sanctions committee confirmed that the individuals are nationals of Libya, Tunisia, Kuwait, and Tajikistan.
