Asia, Aug. 24 -- The United Nations has responded to a request by Human Rights Minister of Pakistan Shireen Mazari for the removal of the Indian actress Priyanka Chopra as Goodwill Ambassador.

Minister Mazari reportedly wrote to UNICEF Director Henriietta Fore demanding the ouster of the actress for her tweet in support of the Indian forces following an airstrike by Indian Air Force in Balakot late in February.

However, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters on Thursday "When UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors speak in their personal capacity, they retain the right to speak about issues that interest or concern them."
