Afghanistan, May 30 -- The United Nations plans to cut 20% of its $3.7 billion budget and staff by 2026 to reduce operational costs.
According to a report by Reuters, the United Nations has prepared a plan aimed at reducing costs, which could cut about one-fifth of its $3.7 billion budget. If implemented, this plan will lead to the termination of nearly 20% of the current UN workforce.
Chandramouli Ramanathan, the UN's senior financial official, addressed a memo to the staff, requesting them to submit their proposals and plans for cost-cutting and workforce reduction by June 13 of this year.
