Afghanistan, June 2 -- Ukraine and Russia held their first direct peace talks in three years, presenting conflicting demands that highlight deep divisions between them.

Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation in the Istanbul peace talks, announced that Kyiv has presented its peace terms to Moscow. This marks the first direct negotiations between the two sides after three years of conflict, held on May 16, 2025, with mediation by the United States and Turkey.
