Afghanistan, Oct. 15 -- Britain has closed a refugee camp that housed more than 1,500 Afghan evacuees for two years, relocating all residents to permanent homes across the country.

Britain has closed the Nesscliffe military base, which served as temporary housing for Afghan refugees who fled the country following the Taliban's takeover in 2021, the Home Office said on Tuesday.

The facility, located in northern England, had sheltered more than 1,500 Afghans over the past two years. Most were families and individuals who had worked with British troops and were evacuated under the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP).
