Afghanistan, Jan. 25 -- The United States considers its own security guarantees for Ukraine more decisive than fragmented European pledges, according to a report by Politico.

Politico reported that Washington views U.S.-backed security guarantees for Ukraine as more critical than European assistance and assurances provided so far.

According to the report, a U.S. official said American guarantees carry greater weight than what were described as scattered and limited European commitments.

The official added that efforts by a so-called coalition of volunteers were positive but amounted to only a small number of troops, helicopters and vague guarantees.
