Afghanistan, Nov. 8 -- The United States has accused Iran of orchestrating a foiled plot to assassinate Israel's ambassador in Mexico, media reports said Friday.
According to Al Arabiya, a senior U.S. official said the alleged assassination attempt was thwarted by security services and that there is currently "no active threat."
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the failed plot was part of Iran's broader campaign to expand its confrontation with Israel across the region and globally.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was behind the plan, which targeted Israel's female ambassador stationed in Mexico City.
