Afghanistan, Dec. 24 -- Iranian media have reported that a landmine explosion in the Kalgan border area in eastern Iran has claimed the lives of two Afghan refugees.

According to the human rights organization "HalVash," the incident occurred early Friday morning when the landmine, allegedly planted by Iranian border forces, detonated, killing the two refugees.

The report states that a group of Afghan refugees was attempting to cross into Iran through the Kalgan border when the explosion occurred. This is not the first time Afghan refugees have fallen victim to landmines planted by Iranian border guards.
