Afghanistan, Nov. 29 -- Two Russia-linked tankers suffered explosions in separate Black Sea incidents near Turkey's coast, prompting rescue operations and raising concerns over maritime safety.
Maritime traffic through the Bosphorus Strait remained open on Friday despite two separate explosions involving Russia-linked oil tankers in the Black Sea, Turkish authorities said, as investigations into the incidents began.
Turkey's Transport Ministry said the 274-meter tanker Kairos, traveling from Egypt toward Russia, reported "an external impact" shortly before an explosion erupted about 28 miles off the Turkish coast. Rescue teams, including fast-response boats and an emergency reaction vessel, were sent immediately.
