Afghanistan, Oct. 28 -- Turkey detained nine Afghan migrants and three suspected smugglers in Sakarya, part of a wider crackdown that has seen over 30,000 Afghans arrested this year.
Turkish police detained nine Afghan migrants in the city of Sakarya on Tuesday, saying they had entered the country illegally, according to local reports.
Authorities also arrested three suspected human smugglers linked to the case and referred them to judicial bodies for further action.
The migrants were discovered while being transported in a cargo vehicle and later transferred to a foreign nationals' deportation center, police said.
