Afghanistan, Aug. 18 -- Ahead of meeting Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump urged Ukraine to abandon NATO membership and Crimea reclamation, saying such concessions are necessary to end the war.
U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to give up its pursuit of NATO membership and abandon efforts to reclaim Crimea as conditions to end the war with Russia.
In a post on his social media account on Sunday, August 17, Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "can bring this war to an end."
Trump stressed that Ukraine's bid to join NATO and its claim over Crimea are "no longer negotiable," presenting them as obstacles to a peace settlement.
