Afghanistan, Nov. 13 -- U.S. President Donald Trump signed a bill reopening the government, ending the longest shutdown in American history, following approval from both the Senate and House.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, signed a bill to reopen the government following approval in both the Senate and the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
The House passed the measure 222-209, ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Trump had strongly backed the legislation.
Speaking before signing, Trump criticized Democrats for the shutdown, saying they tried to "extort" the country. He added the U.S. would not yield to such pressure.
