Afghanistan, March 11 -- Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) has criticized President Trump for repeating the mistakes made during the Afghanistan negotiations by excluding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from talks aimed at ending the war with Russia.
Bacon, speaking in an interview with CNN's Pamela Brown on Monday, March 10, called it a "terrible mistake" to leave Zelensky out of these crucial discussions, The Hill reported.
Bacon drew parallels between the current situation and the Trump administration's 2020 deal with the Taliban, where the Afghanistan government was also excluded from peace talks. He noted that the absence of the Afghanistan's government in negotiations ultimately weakened the country's stability and governance.
