Afghanistan, March 5 -- In response to the alleged threats, the president of a mosque in Sydney stated that the community "deserves to feel secure and protected," urging authorities to address the alleged online threat with "the utmost urgency."

Following the online threat made against the newest mosque in southwestern Sydney, where a user claimed they intended to carry out a "Christchurch 2" attack, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Western Australia.

The state police released a statement on Tuesday afternoon confirming that the teenager was arrested in Eaton, located in the southwestern part of Western Australia, just before 5 p.m. local time. He is now assisting the police in their investigation.
