Afghanistan, Oct. 15 -- Ministry of Interior Affairs said Wednesday the Taliban have carried at least 575 offensive attacks throughout Afghanistan in just two weeks, inflicting heavy casualties on civilians.

Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, in a statement Wednesday said that 92 mine bombings and six suicide attacks by Taliban among others are carried against Afghan people and security forces.

According to Arian, 86 civilians were killed in these attacks and further 165 were wounded; he did not comment on casualties among Afghan security and defense forces.

Of the 575 Taliban offensives, 72 were carried out in Helmand province alone, the interior ministry said.
