Afghanistan, Sept. 16 -- Security officials in Takhar province reported that a car bomb had exploded in the Kalafgan district of the province, killing two people and injuring 12 others.

Takhar police spokesman Khalil Aseer said, the incident took place at around 5:00 pm yesterday in front of the city's plenary religious school in Kalafgan district.

According to Aseer, the explosion took place when "Khair Mohammad Teymouri", one of the prominent jihadi figures of the country, passed through that area.

The injured have been transferred to the local hospital and are in satisfactory condition.

A gas cylinder has also reportedly exploded following the explosion, which lit 20 shops into the blaze of flames.
