Afghanistan, Nov. 11 -- Syria has signed a political cooperation declaration with the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, marking a rare diplomatic move by Damascus.

Syria announced it has recently signed a political declaration of cooperation with the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, a group of more than 80 countries led by the United States.

Information Minister of Syria said on social media platform X on Monday, November 10, that the agreement is "purely political" and "does not include any military component so far."

The move is seen as part of Damascus's broader effort to strengthen international engagement and rebuild its political standing after years of isolation caused by the civil war.
