Afghanistan, Nov. 8 -- South Korea condemned North Korea's latest missile launch into the East Sea, urging Pyongyang to avoid escalating tensions across the Korean Peninsula.
South Korea's Defence Ministry on Friday denounced North Korea's missile launch toward the East Sea, calling it a direct provocation that endangers regional peace and stability.
In a statement, the ministry said Pyongyang's attempt to justify the launch by condemning the annual U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises was "unacceptable and reckless."
The launch came days after North Korea successfully placed its first military spy satellite into orbit, prompting alarm among neighbouring nations and the United Nations Security Council.
