Afghanistan, Oct. 11 -- At least seven soldiers and six militants were killed when gunmen attacked a police training center in Pakistan's Dera Ismail Khan, sparking hours-long clashes.

A deadly overnight assault on a police training facility in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province left at least seven soldiers and six militants dead, authorities said on Saturday.

Police officials said the attack began around 8 p.m. Friday, when a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives at the entrance of the training compound in Dera Ismail Khan. The powerful blast collapsed a section of the wall, allowing armed assailants to storm the facility.
