Afghanistan, Feb. 15 -- Following U.S. President Donald Trump's statement that he expects his first meeting with President Vladimir Putin to take place in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh has confirmed it is prepared to host the summit.

On Friday, February 14, the Russian Times reported that Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry welcomed the potential meeting. U.S. media outlets also reported that Trump had a lengthy conversation with Putin.

Riyadh also emphasized its support for efforts to achieve a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
