Afghanistan, Aug. 24 -- Several Russian airports closed after a wave of Ukrainian drone attacks, disrupting flights and prompting air defense responses, as fighting intensified along the eastern front.
Russian air defense systems shot down a drone heading toward Moscow on Saturday, while officials reported the interception of dozens more across central Russia. The attacks forced several regional airports to suspend operations.
According to the Defense Ministry, 32 drones were destroyed over a three-hour period in multiple areas. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that one drone was downed near the capital, with investigators examining its debris. No casualties were reported.
