Afghanistan, Dec. 4 -- Republican lawmakers in the U.S. House are increasing pressure for sweeping immigration reform following a recent attack that reignited national security concerns.

The fatal shooting of a U.S. National Guard member by an Afghan asylum seeker in Washington has reignited a fierce debate over immigration policy in the House of Representatives.

The attack, carried out on 25th of November by Rahmanullah Lakanwal, also left another soldier critically injured and immediately triggered strong reactions from Republican lawmakers demanding sweeping immigration reform.
