Afghanistan, Sept. 20 -- Pakistan's new defense pact with Saudi Arabia could extend Islamabad's nuclear umbrella to Riyadh, a move analysts warn sends a strong signal to Israel amid rising regional tensions.
Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has suggested that the country's nuclear capability could be made available to Saudi Arabia under a newly signed defence agreement.
Speaking in an interview with Geo TV late Thursday, Asif said Pakistan's deterrent, developed since its nuclear tests decades ago, remains operational and supported by trained forces. He added that "the capabilities we have will, under this agreement, be placed at the disposal of Saudi Arabia."
