Afghanistan, Dec. 4 -- Pakistan has intensified arrests of Afghan refugees in Islamabad, sparking fear among undocumented families amid an expanding crackdown and growing regional tensions.
Police in Islamabad have continued detaining Afghan refugees, with several individuals taken from the F-17 and B-17 residential sectors this week and transferred to the temporary holding center known as Haji Camp.
Refugees say the crackdown has escalated sharply, leaving many afraid to leave their homes, even when sick or in need of medical help. Some allege extortion by individuals posing as police officers, accusing them of harassment and intimidation.
