Afghanistan, Aug. 29 -- Pakistan is facing its worst floods in four decades, displacing over one million people in Punjab, submerging villages, destroying crops, and highlighting worsening climate change impacts.
Pakistan's authorities announced that more than one million residents in Punjab have been forced to flee their homes amid the worst flooding in 40 years. The floods have submerged over 1,400 villages and destroyed vast swathes of farmland, including wheat, rice, and cotton crops.
Officials said the flooding was triggered by the swelling of the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers, which originate in India. The release of water from Indian dams has worsened the situation, leading to widespread devastation across Punjab.
